Disable Internet access before installing an OS

Before you begin installing any operating system, unplug the computer from the network.

As of October 2004 it takes less than 16 minutes for a vulnerable windows computer directly connected to the Internet to become compromised. Isolating the machine from the network, prevents compromise before fully configured and patched.
