Be Cyber Safe
Things you can do to help keep yourself safe on the Internet
Install Security Updates
Installing security updates for software like your operating system, web browser and email reader makes it much harder for viruses, worms and attackers to ruin your day.
Email - Beware
Lots of bad things like phishing, spam and viruses can find their way into your inbox. Unfortunately, it is easy to make an email look like it's from someone you trust.
Be untrusting of email, especially attachments. Learn to recognize a phish. Think before you click.
Use Strong Passwords
A strong
password is difficult to guess but can be remembered with out being written
down. Think of your passwords as vanity license plates that nobody gets to see. For example
TV187r* would be "video killed the radio star"
Make your passwords seven or more characters long. Use uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
Use Antivirus Software
Just like washing your hands with soap, making sure your antivirus is installed and up-to-date prevents infections.
And also like soap, antivirus software is much better at preventing an infection than curing one.
